Brooklyn United After School Program

The Brooklyn United after school is the cornerstone of our program, giving Brooklyn children a creative outlet to grow and thrive. We serve the Brownsville and Crown Heights communities, offering dance, drum, flags, and band instruction. Our program is centered around a sense of community that we refer to as “The Village.” In BU’s village, each student is valuable and we cultivate their strengths while helping them to tackle their weaknesses. 

The Brooklyn United afterschool program is based around our core values—brotherhood, sisterhood, mentorship, citizenship, performance opportunities, and college readiness. Many of our afterschool students have been with us from elementary school to high school graduation, and we have proudly sent our students to universities across the country, armed with scholarships, study skills, and the knowledge that the Village is always there to support them. 

Taught by skilled and caring instructors, including professional dancers from the Brooklyn Nets, our program is one of the most recognizable bands in the tri-state area. Our band has been featured in international performances in France, Norway and South Africa, on the red carpet at the Met Gala, in GAP commercials, in J. Crew magazine spreads, and at the Video Music Awards. We are the in-house halftime performers for the Brooklyn Nets.
